Milkmaid Braids

Milkmaid braids are the best bad hair day trick! This is such an easy look to create and it takes less than 5 minutes. You will need a few bobby pins and two small hairbands.

1. Divide your hair into two sections, the braids work better on unwashed hair.
2. Plait hair into two braids
3 Pull a braid over one ear and pin securely with some bobby pins.
4. Pull the second braid over the first one pulling the ends towards the back of your head. Secure your braids with some more bobby pins.
6. Add more pins to make it secure and viola, bad hair days is a thing of the past with milkmaid braids in no time.

I recently did an interview for ASOS market place and you can read it here and view my ASOS boutique Rouge Pony here

I am wearing a Romwe skirt and collar with a Topshop lace body and Primark boots.

Dear Karin,
That looks really pretty.
Unfortunately I've got extremely fine hair, so I'd never be able to achieve this look without the help of fake hair. Luckily for me I live within a stones throw of no less than three wig & hair shops ;)
I really like your lovely skirt.
Take care luv,

You look amazing, and the braids certainly complement your blonde locks! I love all the lace, particularly that lace collar. Did you make that yourself too? The red flower is such a nice touch to the pictures. xxx

I've always loved the look of Milkmaid Braids. They are sort of boho, but chic at the same time, and you wear them well! Love the pairing of the black lace top with the ethereal, frothy skirt. Such a great combination!

I love Heidi braids but whenever I try this hairstyle the result is always less than stellar. :( Thank you for this, though! These tricks might make my braids look lovelier.

Such a lovely post... I tried milk maid braids a few weeks ago and it was such a refreshing hair style for a hot day. And you're exactly right: they're so easy to do! I'm rather jealous of your long, long locks though... I just had to get my hair cut a bit because I had such split ends :(
