DIY heart elbow patches

This is a super cute and easy DIY for heart shaped elbow patches.

You will need a felting kit, I got mine from Ebay and this includes a felting block, carded wool and felting needles. You also need a woolly jumper, tape and a shape (I used a heart cookie cutter)
I then marked the areas where I want to position my hearts.
You then have to position your felting block inside of your sleeve. Place your shape on your markings and add a little bit of the felting wool inside your shape.
This is the fun part, you start to poke the felting needle on you shape and doing this repeatedly, you have to use you needle straight up and down and not at an angle
I started with a small amount of wool and added more as my heart started taking shape.
Going round the outline of your shape poking the needle up and down until the fibers start compressing
Do this on both elbows and viola you have a super cute jumper with heart patch elbows.

DIY Boots

This is an easy DIY to recycle an old pair of boots

Step one: you will need an old pair of boots, scissors a glue gun, 2 belts, feather trim and some fabric
Step two: I cut my boots so they are ankle boots and rolled the leather over
Step three: cut 2 strips of fabric and glue or tie it around your boot
Step four: attach your belts, you can use different belts and you can use more than one belt per boot
Step five: I glued some feather trim on the inside of the belt to give the boots a more bohemian feel.

You can also add some beads or old necklaces round your boots and viola, a custom pair of boots.

Flower DIY and Romwe giveaway

This is an easy DIY for a flower headband. You will need a hairband, some fabric flowers, scissors, a glue gun and a felt square all of these can be found at a local haberdashery.

Begin by cutting circles from the felt, each flower needs a circle
Take your first flower and glue it to the headband in the middle, then glue your felt circle at the bottom center making it secure
Build your hairband this way with all your flowers working from the middle outwards.
and viola a pretty hairband to ease those winter blues.

So we are counting down the days to Christmas and we all can be children again.

I am hoping for some snow and lots of it!

DIY Lace Peter Pan Collar

This is an easy DIY to make a lace detachable collar.

1. You will need: A meter of broad lace, a meter of satin ribbon, scissors, thread, a safety pin, pins and
a needle
2. Spread your lace flat and fold over one side to approx one inch
3. Pin the fold
4. Carefully sew the fold leaving enough space for the ribbon to be threaded through
5. Pin your safety pin to your ribbon, remember to burn the edges of your ribbon to stop it from
fraying
6. Thread your ribbon through your seam
7 Sew one end of the lace collar to your ribbon leaving the other side over for rouching the lace to
your desired size

and viola, a beautiful easy peasy lace collar modeled by the lovely naughty little Lilly

DIY Feather Wide Brimmed Hat

DIY Feather wide brimmed hat

Out with the fedora, in with something floppier: the wide-brimmed hat. This hat is a perfect way to salute the summer and welcome autumn. The wide-brimmed hat is fashion royalty, worn by everyone from Audrey Hepburn to Sienna Miller, it is a style staple for the colder winter months and the perfect way to cheer those winter blues. This is a very easy DIY to inject some much needed personality into your seventies floppy hat.

What you will need:

Glue Gun
A strip of felt approx 10 by 20 cm
Feathers
A wool felt hat

Step 1:

Start by gluing a row of feathers at the back of your felt strip like shown in image number 1

Step 2

Add another row of feathers like shown in image number 3.

Step 3

Glue your feathers row for row till you have a full strip of felt lavished in feathers like shown in image number 5

Step 4

Glue the feather trim onto your felt hat, and viola, you are a bohemian seventies style queen.

Can summer really be almost over? I really hate the cold! Even if fall is the most precious season of all but it is the long winter I dread.

I prefer these posts to outfit posts, I adore taking images and saving the perfect ones for blogging. The roses are from our garden, the tape from an old carboot sale, the house from a holiday in Croatia and image number 6 is my favourite...I am with my two wonderful sisters and I cherish every moment and memory of childhood (even if we all used to look like strange blonde boys). Milkmaid Braids

Milkmaid braids are the best bad hair day trick! This is such an easy look to create and it takes less than 5 minutes. You will need a few bobby pins and two small hairbands.

1. Divide your hair into two sections, the braids work better on unwashed hair.

2. Plait hair into two braids

3 Pull a braid over one ear and pin securely with some bobby pins.

4. Pull the second braid over the first one pulling the ends towards the back of your head. Secure your braids with some more bobby pins.

6. Add more pins to make it secure and viola, bad hair days is a thing of the past with milkmaid braids in no time.

DIY Lace cut offs

This is a very simple DIY to give your old jeans some new life.

What you will need:
Scissors, pins, a needle thread, lace and an old denim.

This is a DIY that has been done a thousand times before but it is so simple and very easy to do:
First I cut the legs off my jeans and then measured some lace round each leg, pinned it on the inside of the shorts and simply sewed it on! And if you have not learned to sew yet, remember its never too late xxx

This dress has been on my lust list for ages and I finally found one in the sales (from Miss Selfridge), its so beautiful and definitely something that will stick around for years to come.

Running Up That Hill

This has to be one of my favourite places in the world...it is a landscape full of thousands of little lush green hills, and there are sheep everywhere, it is called Little Wales. It is this specific hill I am most fond off....perfect for taking silly, jumping, flying pictures. I hope everyone is enjoying the marvelous summer...before we know all the beautiful landscapes will be covered in snow xxx

Hoping that everyone had a marvelous heatwave like us fair English Roses here today....I think I was one of 5 people in the population that did not go to Glastonbury music festival...sigh. Other than that my week was kind of superb, MTV style featured some of my images and said such wonderful things about Wunderlust... I love how everyone thinks I am so very English (even if I am an import all the way from South Africa. I must admit though; I do love crumpets and tea so I think I am half English anyway). The gorgeous Amanda from Here comes the Sun said my blog was one of her favorites (her blog is a complete maze full of inspiring and wonderful things) so I am truly honored. And the lovely Maria Elyse from First Impressions featured my first ever blog interview; her blog is uber cute and dreamlike ... full of the loveliest vintage items...

I have been sewing like a mad woman this week and I am really excited to announce that my Etsy shop will open soon, I will be selling lovely over-the-top, superfluous feather and flower head-pieces like this one...that I can probably not wear in a small village or when I do the shopping, or anywhere but all-on-your-own in a big field where only cows can see, but who cares...if it is not practical, I like it.

I am wearing a River Island dress (as a top), Primark belt and a dress I bought in South Africa many years ago (as a skirt).

I am really fond of these images, even if I am a strange shade of purple (it was freezing), they really make me miss the big blue ocean and my wonderful bf Lee.... We like having tea for two...a favourite English pass time. I had to bribe Lilly to sit still and wear ridiculous things again! I definitely recommend buying skirts big enough so they can be worn as dresses....this is a maxi skirt from Asos, I prefer it as a dress. The effect quite dreamy (and isn't Lilly creamy?).

I think I will be wearing my flower crown all summer ...

These are the cutest velvet shorts (short shorts!) and I have no idea where and how I will ever wear them...perhaps they fit into the underwear as outer wear category...

Who’d have thought it – along with flat shoes and hair bands, velvet is firmly back on tend. Velvet had been yo-yoing “in” and “out” of fashion more times then I can remember, but there is something about the opulence and lavishness of this beautiful fabric that I adore. To me velvet is cremy and indulging…it needs to come out on special occasions. Crushed or uncrushed, it should be worn with elegance and sophistication, sweep up your hair and slick on some red lipstick and you’ll be there.Don’t wear it from top to toe – one key item or a touch here and there is best.Keep your jewelery simple and let the fabric do the talking.

You should think classic, pale, English- rose at all times.

DIY Floral Crown

I adore flowers and flower crowns are the best way to salute the summer, perfect for a special occasion, festivals or weddings. Here is a few very easy steps to make your own floral crown:

What you will need:

An assortment of fabric flowers, I bought a few different bunches and simply cut the wire stems. Some thin wire, some green garden wire, pliers, measuring tape and floral tape.

Create a circle that fits comfortably around your head and secure it with a small piece of wire. I tripled the amount of wire to make the crown extra sturdy.

Cut your first flower and place it in the desired direction on the crown. By using a small piece of thin wire, wrap the flower tightly and secure with pliers so there are no sharp pieces of wire sticking out that might hurt you. Do this with more flowers, till you start to build a full crown of pretty flowers.

Wrap the exposed wires together with the floral tape from one end to the other and viola you have a pretty floral crown.

Sand, buff, cream, nude, pallid, beige—call it whatever you want, but I’ve seen boatloads of garments in barely there sheer neutrals on the spring runways and high street. If you are an English rose and think wearing neutral shades head to toe will wash you out, wear another colour up top. My cupboard is full of feminine lace and if I am not adorning myself in black…I seem to be draping myself in light floaty laces. This skirt is an eBay find and a firm favourite…I feel like a slightly more grown up ballerina.
